The Final Halfling Chapter 2

Chapter 2

  Alex and I were paralyzed. Where the heck did she come from, I thought to myself. It's as though she just appeared out of nowhere.

  "Well, actually I did," S.e.n burted out. "I came back for my dad's page." She pointed at the piece of paper Alex had.

  At this point, I was petrified. Did she- no, it's impossible! She couldn't have just read my mind.

  The girl spoke again, "I did, and I can. Well, actually, you let me read your mind, Celina."

  I glanced at my brother, who seemed a little surprised, but his faced gave me the hint that he knew more about my "power." He then said to me, "Sis, I'm shocked too, but this is normal compared to what just happened with the page." He then looked at S.e.n and saw her confused and curious face. He went on saying, "I'll explain later. S.e.n, was it? Can you tell me who your dad is?"

  S.e.n smiled. "Cale Slender," she responded.

 "You mean the guy in charge of the Under Realm Guardians?" Alex asked.  

  I noticed the child's eyes as she said "Yep!" Her eyes were of one of an insane person. I blurted out, "Are you really going to trust her, Alex?"

  Alex turned to me disappointed. "I work under Cale, and I have seen her around."

  S.e.n had hand out. "Now, may I please have the page back?"

  I looked at the girl. "One more thing," I said to her. "Why are you named S.e.n? It's a very weird name, especially for a girl."

  "It's actually an abreviation. My full name is Selaina exicute necromancer Slender." I must have given a funny reaction because S.e.n then started to laugh. "I like you, Celina," she said. She stetched out her hand to me. "I'm very glad I met both of you."
 
  Despite being hestitant, I reached to grab her hand. However the minute we touched each other, everything swirled into darkness except for a mirror in front of me. For a bit, nothing showed, not even my reflection. Only what looked like smoke or mist swirling in it. After some time, the smoke swirled into a figure. When the figure was clear enough to see, I saw that the figure was me. My reflection. I smiled in relief, but I noticed that my reflection wasn't doing the same. It had a blank, emotionless face, and it was just staring at me. I felt very unnerved, but things got worse when what might have been lightning flashed for a second. When it disappeared the landscape around me changed (from nothing to a forest) as well as my reflection. Its left eye was violet and its right was a flaming red. The right arm was partially wrapped in bandages with a claw poking out at the end. My reflection smiled a freaky smile while showing a few sharp teeth.
 
  All of a sudden everything swirled back to me in my housestanding in front of S.e.n. Alex had a look of fear in his eyes and S.e.n was breathing deeply.
 
  "Impossible," I heard her say under her breath. "Dad said that all the Halflings are gone!"
